Sitter associated with 8 portraits
Born in Marylebone, Baylis began her career in South Africa touring musical acts under the company name of the Gipsy Revellers. The theatre became renowned for presenting Shakespeare's plays and offered an adventurous repertoire, and operas sung in English, at very low admission prices.
