Heading perfectly correct, but date of death 1997. The Bratby portrait was hanging in the Pleasence home at Datchet at Christmas 1967; I can't say I liked it! They had bought other Bratbys. I don't know what became of it after divorce in 1970. 'Joey' was Donald's pet name for Jo. Josephine was a nurse by the time she met Donald, having given up her career as a singer/actress in the mid-50s in favour of helping people. She had talent as a singer and actress and I believe the music director Eric Robinson who knew her from 'Music for You' on TV suggested her for the part of Solveig in Ibsen's 'Peer Gynt' opposite Peter Ustinov on BBC TV in November 1954, probably her highest profile appearance.
