Architect; with Walter Gropius (partnership 1934-6) pioneered international modernism in Britain in buildings such as Impington Village College, Cambridgeshire (1936). With wife, Dame Jane Drew, co-founded Fry, Drew & Partners (1946-73). Specialised in designing hospitals, universities, housing estates and government buildings in Africa, India, Sri Lanka and the Middle East. Fry, Drew and Partners were the architects for 'The New Schools' pavilion at the Festival of Britain.
