Sitter in 2 portraits
Artist associated with 15 portraits
Political cartoonist and caricaturist; born in Berlin, of Hungarian Jewish extraction, Vicky came and settled in England in 1935 and worked successfully on the News Chronicle , Daily Mirror and Evening Standard, maintaining a fiercely independent stance whatever the political hue of his employer and building a reputation as an incisive commentator on political events. A socialist himself, one of his most enduring creations was 'Supermac', a caricature of Macmillan intended ironically, but often interpreted in Macmillan's favour.
