John Wakeham was a member of Margaret Thatcher's and John Major's Conservative governments in the 1980s and 1990s. He entered parliament in 1974 and served in a number of senior positions including Chief Whip and Leader of the House of Commons. Since leaving government in 1992 Baron Wakeham has been active in business.
