Illustrator and cartoonist. Studied fine art and graphic design at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris and Central School of Art and Design, London. Cartoonist for The Guardian from 1977 with cartoon strips The Silent Three followed by Mrs Weber's Diary (1979), Gemma Bovery (1999) and Tamara Drewe (2007). Other publications include both adult and children's books True Love (1981), Very Posy (1985), Lulu and the Flying Babies (1988), Hilaire Belloc, Cautionary tales (1998) and Lavender (2003).
