Mary McCartney started her career as a photographer in 1995. Her work spans the worlds of portrait and fashion photography and focuses on discovering those rare moments of unguarded, emotionally charged intimacy that offer a new insight to the subject. Mary's assignments have led to her work appearing in publications such as Harper's Bazaar and Interview magazine. Her exhibitions include Off Pointe, an in-depth photographic study of the Royal Ballet after hours, at the Royal Opera House, London (2004) and British Style Observed at the Natural History Museum, London (2008). McCartney was commissioned to take a series of portrait photographs for the National Portrait Gallery's Gay Icons exhibition in 2008 and had a solo exhibition From Where I Stand at the Gallery from October 2010 to May 2011. Her two-volume book Monochrome Colour was published in 2014.
