Collins joined Genesis as a drummer in 1970, took over from Peter Gabriel as lead singer in 1975, and moved on in 1981 to a solo career that has included the albums Face Value (1981) and No Jacket Required (1985). In 1988 he played the title role of the train robber Buster Edwards in the feature film Buster.
