Robert Washington Shirley, 13th Earl Ferrers, was a Conservative politician and was one of the remaining hereditary peers in the House of Lords. He was one of the few people to serve in the governments of five different Prime Ministers. He became the 13th Earl Ferrers on the death of his father in 1954.
