Sir Bernard Katz (1911-2003), Biophysicist

Physiologist; Professor and Head of Biophysics Department, University College, London (1952-78, now emeritus). Born in Leipzig, Katz studied in London and settled permanently in Britain in 1946. His research concerns physiology of the nervous system; he was awarded Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine jointly with Ulf von Euler and Julius Axerod in 1970.
