Henry Bishop

(1868-1939), Artist

Artist of 2 portraits
Henry Bishop was a landscape and portrait painter. He studied at the Slade School, in Paris at the Atelier Cormon, and with Alexander Harrison in Brittany. At first he painted in Cornwall, mainly figure scenes and portraits, but his style evolved after a long stay in southern Europe and Morocco. Bishop exhibited at the New England Art Club from 1915 and at the Royal Academy from 1922. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1932 and a Royal Academician in 1939.
