Sitter in 1 portrait
Artist associated with 33 portraits
Adriaen Hanneman was a Dutch painter best known for his portraits of the exiled British royal court. His style was strongly influenced by his contemporary, van Dyck. Born in The Hague, Hanneman studied under portrait artist Anthony van Ravestyn. He worked in England from around 1626-1638, when he returned to The Hague. From the late 1640s onwards large numbers of exiled royalists began to settle in the Netherlands. Hanneman painted the portraits of some of the key figures of the period, including Charles II, when still Prince of Wales.
