Kathleen Bruce also had a close friendship with the artist Charles Haslewood Shannon R.A.(1864-1937) Shannon was a celebrated lithographer, portrait painter and painter of lyrical subjects, he is represented by several portrait paintings in the NPG most notably a self portrait 'The Man in a Black Shirt' and 'The Man in an Inverness Cape', a portrait of his life long friend and companion the artist Charles Ricketts R.A.
Shannon used Kathleen Bruce as a model in several of his subject paintings. He painted two superb portraits of her:' The Lady in the Blue Feathered Hat' (now in South Africa) and the 'Souvenir of the International Ball' (now in the United States of America). Charles Shannon was devastated when she told him she was going to marry Robert Falcon Scott, who she had met at the home of Mabel Beardsley, Aubrey Beardsley's sister.
Shannon dedicated a second version of one of his most celebrated paintings 'The Fisherman and The Mermaid' to her.
Kathleen Bruce sculpted a small, but full figure portrait of Charles Shannon sketching. A bronze version of which was recently (2018) exhibited at the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh.

There is another portrait of Kathleen Bruce by Charles Haslewood Shannon in the collection of the Musee D'Orsay in Paris. This portrait entitled the 'Sculptress' shows Kathleen Bruce in a black artist's smock, with sculpting tools in hand working on a small clay model. The Musee D'Orsay also owns the study for this painting. The portrait was part of a gift to the Luxembourg Gallery by Shannon and Ricketts' patron Sir Edmund Davis of a then representative collection of British Art before the First World War. The Luxembourg's collection was transferred to the Musee D'Orsay in the 1980's.
