Ivor Roberts-Jones

Ivor Roberts-Jones studied at Goldsmiths and the Royal Academy of Arts in the 1930s, afterwards making his career as a portrait sculptor. His first full-scale commission was a memorial to Augustus John (1967). This work brought him to prominence and led to his election as an associate of the Royal Academy. He became a full member in 1973. Roberts-Jones was Head of the Sculpture Department at Goldsmiths' College from 1964 until 1978. He is best known for his monument to Winston Churchill in Parliament Square.
