Linda McCartney grew up in New York and studied Art History at the University of Arizona where she started taking photographs at the Tucson Art Centre. Returning to New York she soon acquired a reputation for informal and intimate portraits, particularly for musicians.While on assignment in London in 1967 she first met Paul McCartney; they were married two years later. She took photographs for more than thirty years, embracing a wide range of subjects, and has been exhibited in major galleries around the world. Her children with McCartney include the successful photographer Mary McCartney and fashion designer Stella McCartney.
