Douglas Young (1913-1973), Classical scholar, writer and Scottish Nationalist

Classical scholar, man of letters and Scottish Nationalist. Young taught Greek at Aberdeen, St Andrews and at universities in Canada and North Carolina. As Chairman of the Scottish National Party (1942-5) he acquired a reputation for fanaticism and spent a year in prison as the result of a protest against the conscription of Scots.
