Conductor. Founder and Artistic Director of the English Baroque Soloists, Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. Chef fondateur of the Opéra de Lyon orchestra (1983-88) and resident at the Chatelet, Paris since 1999. Studied with Thurston Dart (1965-6) and Nadia Boulanger in Paris (1966-8). Concert debuts include the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1973 and Glyndebourne in 1997. Guest conductor for many major European and American Orchestras. Eliot Gardener has made over 200 records ranging from Mozart to percussion music and won numerous awards.
