Architectural historian and critic; editor of the Architectural Review (1937-71) and architectural correspondent of The Times (1947-71). A champion of modernism, Richards was Hoffman Wood Professor of Architecture at Leeds University (1957-9) and the author, among other works, of Castles on the Ground (1946).
