Artist of 15 portraits
London-born Robert Whitaker spent four years working in television and photography in Melbourne from 1961. From 1968 Whitaker worked as a photographer for Time and Life magazines, documenting the Florence flood, the Indo-Pakistan war and the wars in Vietnam and Cambodia, where he narrowly escaped death. He has photographed Peggy Guggenheim, Max Ernst, Salvador Dali and other artists. After a long period as a farmer in West Sussex he returned to photography in the 1990s.
