Born in Stratford-upon-Avon. Studied hotel and catering management at Westminster College. Moved to London in 1978 and became head chef at Brinkley's Restaurant. After spending a year in culinary France, opened his own restaurant Menage à Trois in London in 1981. Awarded the MOGB chef's Oscar. Presenter of BBC television programme Food and Drink (1999-2002).
