Educated at Kent College Pembury and West Kent College. She worked in public relations for a number of companies before launching her own PR agency, RJH Public Relations, which she ran with her business partner from 1996 until 2002. In 1999 she married the Earl of Wessex in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. As the Countess of Wessex, she has supported her husband in his roles, and has undertaken public duties for a large number of her own charities. She is particularly involved with charities relating to children, disabilities and communication problems. She is patron of Girlguiding UK, the UK's largest all-female organisation.
