James Dewey Watson

(1928-), Scientist

Molecular biologist. Together with Francis Crick, Watson proposed the model for the structure of DNA, the acid in chromosomes which stores genetic information. They were awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology (1962) with the biophysicist Maurice Wilkins.
