This painting was owned by my family for a very long time, but was sold by my farther in the early 1970's to a dealer, Dr. Isaac Stern in Montreal. It is my understanding that the subject, Mrs. Scrooge Egerton was somehow related to the famous early painter of Canadian scenes, Cornelius Krieghoff.
