Brian Cox

(1968-), Physicist

Particle physicist. After a music career with the bands Dare and D:Ream, Cox studied at the University of Manchester before becoming a Professor there in 2009. He also works at the CERN laboratory in Geneva on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Cox has helped popularise science with television programmes including the series Wonders of the Solar System (2010) and Stargazing Live (2011). Cox's book Why Does E=mc2? was published in 2009. He was awarded an OBE in 2010.
