Scottish singer Susan Boyle's professional career was launched following her audition on British television programme Britain's Got Talent in April 2009. Having previously sung as an amateur and as a member of her church choir in West Lothian, Boyle's first album I Dreamed a Dream became the fastest-selling debut by a female artist in the UK.
