Christopher Nolan

Film director Christopher Nolan studied English Literature at University College London, where he was president of the UCL film society (1992-4) and made short films such as Doodlebug (1997). Nolan's second feature film Memento (2000) brought much critical acclaim and earned Nolan his first Oscar nomination. In 2005, Nolan revived the Batman franchise with Batman Begins, which was followed by The Dark Knight in 2008. In 2010 Nolan's film Inception was a major critical and popular success, winning Oscars for cinematography, sound editing and visual effects.
