Mark Sheridan

(1864-1918), Comedian

Sitter in 1 portrait
Sheridan was a comic singer who became a leading performer on the music hall circuit with songs such as Who Were You With Last Night?. At the start of the war he recorded Belgium Put The Kybosh On The Kaiser and Here We Are, Here We Are, Here We Are Again. With the decline of music hall, he formed his own company, and in 1917 wrote and composed the musical burlesque Gay Paree. Devastated by the negative reviews the show received when it opened the following year at the Coliseum, Glasgow, he committed suicide.
