Dear Mr, Larson,
I am a professor at Notre Dame writing a biography of a friend of Lady Leslie, and woudl like to get in touch with your father or whoever retained her correspondence and documents. My biography is especially about the 1930s and 1940s - a German diplomat who worked for British intelligence.

Leslie Doverdale was the Club Director of the American Red Cross in Great Britain, which existed in 1943 in Richmond, Surrey. The club had bought Trumpeters House in Old Palace Yard and Lady Doverdale was overseeing the renovations/alterations.

Christopher is correct. (I'm his sister's husband) . Just scanned Lady Doverdale's account of leaving Paris and her Hindenburg itinerary of 10-13 July 1936, listing her as one of the 50 passengers and two surviving tropical fish aboard.

I believe Lady Doverdale was my grandfather Robert Leslie Cornell Sr's sister. Robert married Marguerite Doll of Pennsylvania. They had three children (Elizabeth, Robert Jr, and Anna), and ended up in Florida where most of their descendants still live. Robert Jr. was my dad. This portrait looks amazingly like my Aunt Elizabeth (Libby). I would LOVE to connect with Joseph Jr. and Christopher!

My father, Joseph Cornell, told me stories about growing up with Lady Doverdale. I believe her father was George Cornell and brother was Harold Cornell, my grandfather.

This is my mother's aunt! We have few photos. Our family has two long essays written by her, one describing her harrowing escape from Paris to the English channel where she fled on a cargo ship to England as Hitler was invading Paris and moving across France in WW2. She worked for the Red Cross at the time. We also have a New York Times picture and article as she was a passenger on an early trip on the Hindenburg, landing in Lake hurst. Her death certificate states she was in the company of her good friend, Princess Grace of Monaco when she passed away in a Monaco hospital. My father handled her estate upon her death and retained all correspondence and documents. Would love to see this portrait! Please advise.
