Marion Lindsay Toone was born in 1880 in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, as Mary Weldon the youngest child of my great-grandparents, Matthew Weldon. After her father died in 1890, her mother moved to East London, Eastern Cape, taking Mary/Marion with her. There she met and married Charles Lindsay Toone, who at the time was a lieutenant in the British army.
They seem to have left South Africa not too long after their marriage, and in February the following year, their daughter Enid Rylda Toone was born in Addlestone, Surrey.
The marriage did not last too long, ending in divorce in 1914. A few years later, she married Paul William John Augustin Stomm,
