Richard John Charles Fidler

24 December 2018, 15:04

Always known as "Bill". One of 4 siblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Both he and his brothers served in World War 1. Only Bill returned. The brothers names are to be found on the Menin Gate. His sister, Edith, was my grandmother on my father's side. He lived in Hayes, Middlesex with my grandfather, Charles Douglas Fidler, who had married his sister. Later all moved to Ashford, Middlesex. I think that I am right that he retired from the RIBA in 1949 and the portrait is about that time. He was a senior member of the Freemasons. He was my great uncle.
