Colin Firth

Firth's role as Mr Darcy in the 1995 television adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, brought him national recognition, having made his film debut in Another Country (1984). He received critical praise for his performance in Tom Ford's A Single Man (2009), winning awards at the Venice Film Festival and at the BAFTAs. In 2011 Firth was named Best Actor at the Oscars, the Golden Globes and at the BAFTAs for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech (2010). Firth has been an ambassador for Oxfam, campaigning on Fair Trade and is an outspoken social activist.
