Talvin Singh

British musician, music producer and classically trained tablas player. Singh trained as a classical tablas player in India during his mid-teens becoming an accomplished tablas player who's individual musical style has led to collaborations with a range of diverse Indian and Western artists. He sang and played tablas on the single 'Kiss Them for Me' by Siouxsie and the Banshees and later was Bjork's percussionist and director on her album Debut (1993). He has also collaborated with Duran Duran, Madonna and Massive Attack. Singh's debut solo album OK (1988) showcased his unique and innovative music style which defies and crosses conventional music genres. The album received critical acclaim and was awarded the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 1999. He released Ha in 2001. He was awarded an OBE in the 2014 for his services to music.
