Jamaican-born Aston Moore competed for Great Britain in the triple jump winning bronze at the 1978 and 1982 Commonwealth Games and competing in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. After his retirement from athletics Moore focused on coaching triple jump to younger generations. Based in Birmingham, Moore has coached Ashia Hansen and Phillips Idowu. Moore's son Jonathan Moore has followed in his father's footsteps becoming a triple jump athlete. He won the gold medal for triple jump at the 2001 World Youth Championships.
