David Nixon
(1919-1978), Magician and entertainerSitter in 2 portraits
Nixon began to practice magic tricks from a young age. During World War Two, when exempt from fighting for medical reasons, Nixon toured with ENSA (Entertainments National Service Association). In 1954 he was invited to join the BBC programme What's My Line? which made him a household name. He went on to present various television shows, including Candid Camera and David Nixon's Magic Box.
