Dame Meriel Lucy Talbot (1866-1956), Women's welfare worker

Talbot was first head of the Women's Land Army, chosen for the position based on her previous war-time work as the first female inspector on the board of agriculture. After the war she continued work for the Ministry of Agriculture as their advisor on women's employment. Throughout her career she championed the employment and welfare of women.
