Diego (Alberto) Aracena (Aguilar)

Diego Alberto Aracena Aguilar began his military career as an Army Officer in 1911 and by 1914 was assigned to the Aeronautical Military School. There he obtained the position of Military Aviator and in 1920, War pilot. He was appointed Acting Director of the School of Military Aeronautics and sent to England to further his knowledge of aviation. In 1932, Aracena was named Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, being the last officer with the title of 'Commodore of the Air' and the first one to become 'General of the Air'. He remained Commander-in-Chief until January 6, 1939, when he retired.
