Winslet came to the public's attention in Peter Jackson's 1994 film Heavenly Creatures. In 1995 she was Oscar-nominated for her role in the film Sense and Sensibility and played the novelist Iris Murdoch in Iris (2001). She was nominated for the Best Actress award at the Oscars for her performances in Titanic (1997) and Michel Gondry's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2005). Recent releases include The Reader (2008), Revolutionary Road (2008) and Steven Soderbergh's Contagion (2011). Winslet won an Emmy for her performance the TV series Mildred Pearce (2011).
