From a family of actors and directors, Morahan made her debut aged seventeen, in the BBC adaptation of The Peacock Spring (1996). She won a student award for her performance in A View from the Bridge while at Cambridge University. Morahan has also won critical acclaim as a stage actress in productions including Chekhov's The Seagull (2006), Dostoyevsky's The Idiot (2008), David Hare's Plenty (2011) and Ibsen's A Doll's House (2012-13). Notable television credits include Jane in Outnumbered (2007-11).
