Ferdinando Badoglio

26 October 2017, 18:54

Pietro Badoglio who took over from Mussolini as Italian PM was first Duke of Addis. He had three sons. None of them called Pietro. In 1948 Italy ceased to recognise titles of nobility. They became mere brands for self aggrandisement.

The title of second Duke would have passed to the first son had it not have ceased to be recognised by his death.

The soi disant nobility and the Ciampino conti are figures of fun.
