Rev. Edward Royds (1820-1895) was the son of Rev. Edward Royds (1790-1836), rector of Brereton, Cheshire from 1819 to 1836. He was educated at Rugby School and Brasenose College, Oxford, graduating B.A. in 1842. He was rector of Brereton for 50 years.
