born 1867 in Antrim; descended from the Huguenot linen merchant refugee - Louis Crommelin. Sister of the astronomer Andrew Claude Commelin(1865-1939). Married John Masefield in 1903; mother of Judith I, and Lewis Crommelin Masefield. Constance taught at the Roedean school in Brighton where she met the fellow teacher Isabelle Fry(of the famous Quaker dynasty).
