Brought up in Darlington, Reeves (b.1959) started performing as a stand-up comedian in the early 1980s on the London alternative comedy scene. He met his comedy partner Bob Mortimer (b.1959) while performing his stage show Vic Reeves Big Night Out in 1986. A television series of the same name was first broadcast in 1990, and soon attracted cult status. The duo continued their creative friendship working together on The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, and Bang Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer. The comedy panel show Shooting Stars which began in 1995 was revived in 2008. Reeves's solo career has encompassed hit records including covers of Dizzy and I'm A Believer.
