After working as a commodities trader, Farage became a founding member of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in 1993 and led the party from 2006 to 2009, and 2010 to 2016. A prominent Eurosceptic, Farage was a leading figure in the campaign to leave the European Union in the 2016 referendum on UK membership. After the referendum, Farage resigned as UKIP leader and serves as Vice Chairman of the pro-Brexit Leave Means Leave organisation.
