The daughter of prominent Dutch engraver and publisher Crispijn Van de Passe the Elder; her brothers were the engravers Simon and Willem de Passe. Her father was the founder of a distinguished publishing house in Cologne that produced portraits of European nobility and religious and other prints. They moved to Utrecht where Crispijn Van de Passe started another prosperous business, producing prints for the English market.
