Arthur, Prince of Wales
(1486-1502), Eldest son of Henry VIISitter associated with 6 portraits
The elder son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, Arthur was married in 1501 to Katherine of Aragon, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain. The marriage secured an important diplomatic link between England and both Spain and the Habsburg empire. Arthur's premature death at Ludlow the following year left his brother Henry as heir to the throne.
