Kenneth More
(1914-1982), ActorSitter in 7 portraits
Born in Gerrard's Cross, Moore had a successful career on the stage and in the cinema. Lead roles in Genevieve (1953) and Doctor in the House (1954) made him a major star. In 1955 he won best actor prize at Venice for his dramatic performance in The Deep Blue Sea. Performances in Reach for the Sky (1956), A Night to Remember (1958) and North West Frontier (1959) demonstrated his range and cemented his popularity that continued into the 1960s and into TV for The Forsyte Saga (1967). He published an autobiography More or Less in 1978.
