Richard England (circa 1750-1812), Lieutenant-General

Served in the British Army during the American War of Independence and was one of the first colonists of Western Upper Canada. Appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Plymouth in 1803. The citadel, a fort begun in the reign of Charles II, was the military headquarters of Plymouth.
