Janet Ross was the aunt of Lina Duff Gordon, later Lina Waterfield. Lina's marriage portrait, Return from the Ride, is in the Tate Gallery and the frame of the portrait was carved by Katherine Furse (née Symonds) who was the daughter of John Addington Symonds.
