C. l. Latrobe was a Moravian church minister and composer. He was a friend of Haydn to who whom he dedicated piano sonatas. He was significantly influential in disseminating the European classical style of church music in England in accord with Vincent Novello. My specific interest is in his association with the Moravian church at East Tytherton, Wiltshire as l am contributing to the Victoria County History of this area. There is an extensive tribute to Latrobe in ‘The Musical Times’ of 1851.
