Mrs. Waters' School was in Newcastle, first in Pilgrim Street and then in Northumberland Street. She issued a medal by William Wyon in 1816 to those who had been her pupils. Mrs Waters was born in Edinburgh. Her husband Ralph Waters jun (1750-1817) a Newcastle artist, was the drawing master in her school. He and his father were friends of Thomas Bewick and exhibited at the RA.
The medallic portrait was modelled by Peter Rouw (1771-1852) who had done the model for William Wyon’s father Peter’s medallion of Matthew Boulton in 1809.
Wyon showed this medal at the Royal Academy in 1817
